Surfacephilia is a North-East UK based surface pattern design studio that creates luxurious and experimental
artwork and patterns for the interiors industry. Helen Stevens, creator of Surfacephilia, works closely with
interior designers on large scale commissioned artwork and bespoke wallpaper and wall panelling for client projects, and also retails collections of homewares such as digitally printed wallpaper, plush velvet cushions and light shades.
Surfacephilia was launched at London Design Festival in September 2011, and has since been described in The Telegraph Magazine as 'one to watch' and Glass magazines 'Top 5 designers to have in your home'. Our wallpapers have graced the walls of many hotels, retail shops, TV show sets, magazine editorials and residential homes around the world.

Helen Stevens owner and designer at Surfacephilia, graduated back in 2002 with a first in BA Hons Textiles and Surface Design and has worked within industry ever since, from print design at Red Or Dead to degree lecturing. Helen's hand rendered approach towards surface pattern has become her signature style, and her bold and experimental designs are built up using layering of intricate and often repetitive drawings, paintings and textures that have been lifted directly from precious sketchbook pages.
